Companies are continuously exploring AI assistants to boost productivity, aiming to save user time and encourage greater adoption. In line with this, Google has now introduced an experimental email-centric AI assistant named CC, accessible via a Google Labs initiative.
Powered by Gemini, CC integrates with your Google accounts, including Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar, to deliver a daily email briefing. This ‘Your Day Ahead’ email provides users with a summary of their tasks, an overview of their calendar, and crucial daily updates drawn from these connected services.
Users can interact with CC by replying to its emails or sending new ones, making requests like task additions, preference customization, note-taking, or information retrieval.
Currently, CC is accessible to AI Pro and Ultra subscribers aged 18 or older in the U.S. and Canada. Google has clarified that the assistant is exclusively for personal Google accounts, not Workspace accounts.
The market already features various AI-driven email briefing tools and assistants. For instance, Sequoia-backed Mindy, now focused on creators and marketers, originated as an email assistant. Meeting transcription services such as Read AI and Fireflies also provide daily summaries, though they may lack comprehensive context from email and Drive. Additionally, Huxe, an audio application developed by former Google NotebookLM creators, generates a daily podcast-style brief incorporating information from your email, calendar, and preferred news sources.
