Eric Schmidt’s wealth is on track for a significant increase. The former Google CEO reportedly possesses approximately 1% of Anthropic, following an investment of tens of millions of dollars in the leading AI laboratory’s Series A funding round in 2021, as reported by Bloomberg. At that time, the startup held a valuation of $461 million, according to PitchBook data.
Assuming Bloomberg’s assessment is accurate, Schmidt’s share is notably substantial, especially when compared to the 2% of the company held by co-founder and CEO Dario Amodei. Anthropic is widely anticipated to launch its initial public offering (IPO) before the year concludes, with leading market projections valuing the company at up to $2 trillion. At such a valuation, Schmidt could potentially add as much as $20 billion to his current net worth, which Bloomberg estimates at $57.5 billion.
Schmidt has actively participated as a tech investor since his departure as Google CEO in 2011. He allocates capital through various entities, including Tomorrow Ventures, Innovation Endeavors Management, and his family office, Hillspire. His portfolio of other AI investments includes Mistral, General Intuition, and Reflection AI.
