Google’s Affordable AI Plus Plan Expands to U.S. and More Countries

Google revealed on Tuesday that its budget-friendly Google AI Plus plan is now accessible in every market offering its AI services, including the United States, where it will be priced at $7.99 monthly.

This expansion extends the more economical plan to 35 additional countries and territories, building on its previous introductions in numerous global markets, starting with Indonesia last September.

Subscribers to this plan receive access to Gemini 3 Pro and Nano Banana Pro within the Gemini app, Flow’s AI-powered filmmaking utilities, research and writing support via NotebookLM, among other features. Furthermore, it provides 200GB of storage and allows the sharing of plan advantages with up to five additional family members.

According to the company, current Google One Premium 2TB subscribers will automatically receive all Google AI Plus plan features within the coming days.

Originally targeting emerging markets, the Google AI Plus plan serves as an initial paid option for Gemini and other AI tools, catering to users who might not require or be able to afford the pricier Google AI Pro plan, usually costing $20 monthly.

Although the Plus plan’s monthly cost differs regionally, its $8 price in the U.S. could attract a broader, more casual user base to Google’s AI offerings. In other regions, the plan often costs less than $5 monthly; for example, Indian users pay ₹399 ($4.44 USD) each month.

Upon its initial launch, Google clarified that the plan aimed to provide access to Gemini, Veo, and various creative AI tools in developing markets at a more accessible cost. It also serves as a competitor to OpenAI’s ChatGPT Go plan, which is $8 per month in the U.S. and less in certain emerging markets. Such plans are intended to draw in a significant online demographic who could eventually become consistent AI users, thereby increasing companies’ AI adoption rates.

Google states that, for a limited period, subscribers can enjoy a 50% discount on their first two months of subscription as part of a promotional offer.
