Rebel Audio: A New AI-Powered Platform to Simplify Podcast Creation for Everyone

Many have experienced that convivial moment with a friend, where engaging conversation and laughter lead to an insightful exchange, often culminating in the suggestion, “We should start a podcast.”

Typically, this idea quickly dissipates. While not inherently poor, the practicalities of podcast creation, encompassing recording equipment, editing tools, and promotional efforts, are frequently cited as unexpectedly high barriers to entry.

A new platform, Rebel Audio, aims to bridge this gap.

Rebel Audio presents itself as a comprehensive podcasting solution tailored for emerging and novice creators. Its core concept is straightforward: providing a single platform where podcasters can handle all aspects of their show—from creation and recording to editing, cover art uploads, transcript generation, social media clipping, and publishing—eliminating the need for various separate tools, subscriptions, and workflows.

Earlier this month, Rebel Audio initiated a private beta accompanied by a waitlist. The platform recently secured $3.8 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round, indicating significant investor confidence in its approach to streamlining podcast creation. The public launch is scheduled for May 30.

This launch is timely, given the explosive growth of the podcasting industry, which is forecast to hit $114.5 billion by 2030. Riverside reports over 584 million podcast listeners in 2025, with projections estimating an increase to 619 million by 2026.

Existing rivals, such as Spotify for Creators (formerly Spotify for Podcasters), already offer integrated solutions, providing features like limitless hosting, video podcasting, audience engagement tools, analytics, and monetization options via ads and subscriptions. Nevertheless, Rebel Audio asserts that these current offerings do not provide the comprehensive, “360-degree” creation suite it aims to deliver. Other notable competitors include Riverside, Adobe Audition, and Descript.

Monetization forms another key aspect of Rebel Audio’s proposition. Instead of viewing revenue generation as a subsequent step, the platform incorporates it inherently from the outset, enabling creators to utilize advertising, brand collaborations, dynamic ad placement, and listener subscriptions directly within the platform.

Predictably, Rebel Audio’s functionality is extensively enhanced by artificial intelligence.

An integrated AI assistant on the platform aids in various tasks, including generating show titles and descriptions, proposing content ideas, and creating cover art from a concept. Additionally, it offers AI-driven transcription, dubbing, translation, and voice cloning specifically for advertisements.

Nevertheless, developing a podcasting platform primarily leveraging AI might draw criticism.

The application of AI-generated visuals and voice cloning continues to be a contentious subject within the creative sector. Persistent concerns regarding training data, authenticity, and intellectual property rights lead some creators to approach such tools with caution. Platforms like Spotify and Deezer have previously contended with problems stemming from low-quality, high-volume AI-generated content, often termed “AI slop.”

Rebel Audio informed TechCrunch that it has established protective measures to mitigate these concerns. Voice cloning is an opt-in feature, necessitating user confirmation of rights for voice usage, and the platform incorporates safeguards against deepfake material. Likewise, the company states its AI-generated cover art tools are equipped with moderation systems to prohibit unsuitable or non-compliant images, especially those infringing on distribution platform rules.

Rebel Audio’s development was a collaborative effort with AI consulting firm Lattice Partners.

The company’s leadership team possesses extensive industry expertise. Founder Jared Gutstadt previously established the production company Audio Up in 2020. Rebel Audio intends to transfer Audio Up’s existing content library to its platform, which features shows with prominent figures such as Machine Gun Kelly, Anthony Anderson, Dennis Quaid, Jason Alexander, and Luke Wilson.

The wider team comprises experienced professionals from companies such as MGM and DreamWorks, and Mark Burnett, the producer of “Survivor,” “The Voice,” and “Shark Tank,” has also joined as an advisor.

The platform’s pricing is tiered, beginning with a Basic plan ($15/month) offering AI-assisted production, hosting, and distribution across major platforms. A Plus plan ($35/month) adds video hosting and voice cloning for ad reads, culminating in a comprehensive Pro package ($70/month) that features dynamic ad insertion, listener subscriptions, translation, and dubbing.
