Iran has cautioned that it will target more data centers across the Middle East, retaliating against continuous threats and air strikes from the United States.
According to a video published late last week and widely circulated on Sunday, Iranian military spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaghari stated that Iran’s military would strike U.S. energy and technology infrastructure in the region if the U.S. proceeds with its threats against Iranian civilian infrastructure.
The Iranian video displayed a globe, which then zoomed in on the Stargate data center located in the United Arab Emirates, accompanied by the assertion, “nothing stays hidden to our sight, though hidden by Google.”
Announced in January 2025, Stargate represents a $500 billion collaborative effort among OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle, dedicated to constructing AI data centers. Initially, the project encountered difficulties launching due to reported financial challenges and expenses linked to tariffs, prompting its organizers to pursue international expansion by developing additional data centers.
This most recent warning follows a statement from U.S. President Trump, who vowed to attack Iran’s civilian infrastructure, including power plants and water desalination facilities, by Tuesday’s end if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened. This vital global shipping route has significantly disrupted international supply chains since the conflict began in February.
The conflict has already led to missile strikes impacting multiple data centers within the region.
Earlier, Iranian missiles hit Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centers in Bahrain, as well as an Oracle data center in Dubai. Furthermore, Iran specifically named and threatened tech firms such as Nvidia and Apple last week.
