Anthropic revealed on Friday the launch of Claude Design, an innovative experimental offering enabling users to generate visuals such as prototypes, presentations, single-page documents, and more, leveraging Claude. The company indicates that Claude Design is engineered to empower individuals like founders and product managers, who may lack a design background, to articulate their concepts with greater ease.
With Claude Design, users articulate their desired outcome, and Claude then generates an initial draft. Following this, users can refine the visuals through direct edits or further prompts.
For instance, one might instruct Claude to “develop a prototype for a tranquil mobile meditation application. It should feature calming fonts, subtle nature-inspired color schemes, and a clean interface.”
Subsequently, you could adjust the colors, modify the font size, or request Claude to incorporate a dark mode option.
While Claude Design might initially appear to challenge popular design application Canva, which recently expanded its own AI capabilities, Anthropic informed TechCrunch that its aim is to complement rather than supersede it. The company stated that its new product is designed for individuals who are not beginning within a design tool and require a swift transition from an idea to a visual representation.
After teams create presentation decks or prototypes, they can export them as PDFs, URLs, PPTX files, or transfer them to Canva. Once in Canva, they retain full editability and collaborative features, Anthropic notes.
Claude Design also possesses the capability to apply a team’s established design system to every project it generates, ensuring consistent results aligned with the company’s overall visual brand. Anthropic explains that Claude Design achieves this by interpreting a company’s codebase and design files. Furthermore, teams can refine these elements and maintain multiple design systems.
This new offering is powered by Claude Opus 4.7 and is currently available in a research preview for subscribers of Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise.
The launch underscores Anthropic’s continuous expansion into the enterprise and prosumer sectors, amidst intensifying competition in AI workplace solutions. In January, Anthropic introduced Claude Cowork, an agentic assistant designed for intricate tasks. Weeks later, the company integrated agentic plug-ins into Cowork, aimed at automating specialized functions across a company’s various departments.
Today’s announcement follows reports a few days prior by Bloomberg, indicating that venture capitalists have been extending preemptive funding offers to the company, potentially valuing it at $800 billion or more, a figure that could rival or even exceed its competitor OpenAI. However, according to the report, Anthropic is currently not interested in these recent offers.
