Tesla Expands Robotaxi Service to Dallas and Houston

Tesla has announced the expansion of its robotaxi service into Dallas and Houston, as revealed in a recent social media update from the automaker.

The company’s announcement, stating simply “Robotaxi is now rolling out in Dallas & Houston 🤠,” was accompanied by a 14-second video clip depicting Tesla vehicles operating autonomously, with no human supervisors or drivers present in the front seating area.

This expansion brings Tesla’s robotaxi operations to three Texas cities, following its initial launch in Austin last year and the subsequent removal of safety drivers from those vehicles in January 2026. A February regulatory document from Tesla indicated that its Austin-based robotaxis have been implicated in 14 incidents since their introduction.

Additionally, the company provides a restricted ride-hailing service, utilizing human drivers, within the San Francisco Bay Area.

It appears Tesla might not have a substantial number of vehicles operating in these new markets currently, as crowdsourced information from the Robotaxi Tracker website shows only one vehicle accounted for in each city (in contrast to 46 active vehicles recorded in Austin).
