Google Workspace Integrates AI Image Creation and Editing with Google Pics

Google is expanding into the creative design sector by launching Google Pics, a new tool for image creation and editing. This offering will be integrated into its Google Workspace suite for business clients and those subscribed to premium Google AI services.

This new product, driven by Google’s Nano Banana image-generation model, is scheduled for deployment in the coming weeks. It will be accessible to the majority of Workspace users and subscribers of Google AI Pro or Ultra plans.

Much like established design platforms such as Adobe Express and Canva, Google’s latest tool is designed for common design needs encountered in both professional and personal settings. Google Pics, for example, can be utilized to generate posters, social media content, and various other visual assets and illustrations.

However, Google Pics diverges from Canva; while Canva enables artists, illustrators, and photographers to upload and monetize templates, graphics, photos, and other artwork in a marketplace, Google Pics focuses on AI-driven content generation, leveraging models trained on existing artistic creations.

Furthermore, distinct from Adobe Express, which is frequently used by creators for initial design work, Google Pics operates as a prompt-based creation tool rather than a platform for designing entirely new elements from the ground up.

The application also incorporates additional editing functionalities, such as isolating and manipulating objects, along with the capacity to alter or translate text within images. Moreover, it facilitates collaborative editing and can produce multiple versions of a requested image, allowing users to select the most suitable option.

This software will be integrated into the Google Workspace ecosystem, launching first with Docs and Slides starting today. According to the company, it will subsequently become available within Google Drive.
