Apple Sets Dates for Worldwide Developers Conference 2026, Emphasizing AI

Apple has confirmed that its upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will take place from June 8 to June 12, both virtually and in-person at its Cupertino, California headquarters, according to a Monday announcement.

The technology giant stated that the primary focus of this year’s conference, an event traditionally used to unveil new software and features for its various devices, will be on “AI advancements.” Additionally, attendees can expect updates for core platforms such as iOS, macOS, tvOS, and WatchOS, as well as new software and developer tools.

Live streaming of WWDC will be accessible via the Apple Developer app, Apple’s official website, and the Apple Developer YouTube channel. For audiences in China, the event will also be broadcast on the Apple Developer bilibili channel.

In contrast to last year’s WWDC, which centered on the “Liquid Glass” interface design and largely overlooked AI, this upcoming conference is anticipated to take a different direction. Apple has been rumored to be developing a new Siri featuring enhanced AI, and recently finalized an agreement with Google to integrate Gemini for AI functionalities across its ecosystem. Consequently, this year’s WWDC could be the venue for the unveiling of a redesigned Siri, offering improved personal context and on-screen awareness.

At the previous year’s conference, Apple unveiled its Foundation Model framework, which includes AI models capable of offline operation; further enhancements to this framework might be revealed at this year’s event. Additionally, Apple previously integrated models such as ChatGPT for coding within Xcode. More recently, the company augmented Xcode with agentic coding tools, specifically Anthropic’s Claude Agent and OpenAI’s Codex.
